IAT and ILT furnaces main characteristics and differences

IAT and ILT melting furnaces are designed for induction melting of copper-containing and aluminum alloys. During smelting, the temperature of the molten metal, ILT furnaces is in the range of 200 – 1 300 C. In IAT furnaces, the temperature of the molten metal reaches 750 C. The use of these furnace complexes improves the chemical composition and homogeneity of the alloy by an order of magnitude and, accordingly, the quality of the castings.

IAT furnace and ILT furnace design features

In the design of the IAT and ILT smelting furnaces, an inductor of copper shaped arched profile pipe is mounted. The coils are insulated with multilayer insulation from glass tape, micaceous tape, electrical insulating varnish. For melting of copper-containing alloys, the IAT furnace is lined with quartzite or high-aluminous ramming mass, and for aluminum alloys they use chamotte – quartzite mass. In order to avoid accidents, and associated losses for the repair of the furnace. The crucible is replaced when the lining is worn up to 30% anywhere in the crucible.

Features of melting in induction furnaces such as IAT and ILT

A feature of melting in a crucible induction furnace of the IAT and ILT series operating at an industrial frequency of 50 Hz. Is the intense mixing of the metal caused by the action of electrodynamic forces. At the same time, a meniscus is formed on the metal surface.

Specific energy consumption in the crucible induction furnaces ILT and IAT. When melting metals, it is: 360–390 for brass, 580–700 kWh / t for aluminum.

Induction crucible furnaces IAT and ILT correct use

Electric furnaces such as ILT and IAT are designed to work in the following conditions:

  • The height of the melting crucible furnace IAT, ILT above sea level – no more than 1000 m;
  • Ambient temperature – from + 5 to + 45 ° С;
  • Environment – non-explosive, not containing aggressive gases and impurities;
  • The absence of impurities in the cooled water, forming a sediment;
  • The temperature of the cooling water should not be lower than the ambient temperature in the room by more than 15 ° C;
  • Vapors and dust in concentrations not exceeding those specified in GOST 2.1.005-88;
  • Vibration and shocks in the place of installation of the electric furnace ILT and IAT should be absent.

IAT and ILT furnaces determine the actual performance

To determine the actual performance of the IAT furnace and the ILT furnace, the consumer needs to consider the time spent on the introduction of alloying additives. Refining, metal discharge, melting technology, type of charge and the method of its loading ..
